Time. Where does it go? They always say that, but when it sneaks up on you, that’s exactly what you say.
As fast as the setting sun on a fiery horizon, our kids will be gone from our home.
One second we are changing diapers in a dark nursery, and the next, we’ll be choking on a lump in our throat listening to pomp and circumstance.
Gone.
Where did those years go? Can I get them back?
Did we do all we could?
Did we love them as much as we could have?
Did we teach them to be kind,
to share their toys,
to put others first?
Are they ready to face the big and scary world in front of them?
Silence.
Right now, TODAY, all we have NOW.
Perhaps some of you have already said goodbye to children that have graduated?
We can’t go back in time and get those years back.
All we have is now.
How can you and I make the moments count, instead of counting the moments?
Raising children is HARD!
Most days we feel as though we are going to lose our minds, or that it’s too late… we already have.
Here’s something you might like to try today. Why not create a prayer/note box for each of your children you have left under your roof? Here’s what you can do:
-
Grab a shoe box
-
Cover it with construction paper and write their name on it.
-
Write special notes and prayers to each child.
-
Give it to your child when they graduate to open and read.
I’m a visual learner and memory keeper. This will be a great way to document our kid’s childhood and keep your prayer life current for each of them. Don’t forget to date each letter!
Don’t over think this or make is burdensome. Write when you feel like it. Write when you don’t feel like it but know you should.
Who’s with me?
