I love this time of year! I was talking last night with some ladies about the amazing gift of the seasons. They are the same each year, but they are always new and fresh!
The first few leaves that color the ground.
The first snowflake on my cheek and the way my son says, “It smells like it is going to snow, Mommy!”
The first bright, yellow tulip poking through the dirt.
The sun warming my face during the early days of summer.
The Lord is so good to repeat things in our life, yet always finds a way to make things seem new and exciting. The Word of God is the same way. It’s living and active and it’s so amazing that we can read a passage that we’ve read before, and it looks different on the pages. It’s new and fresh for this moment in our life.
They say that history has a way of repeating itself. In some ways that can be a good thing, and others, it’s not good. Like the sin of our fathers passed down through generations. The lie of the enemy says that we have no choice but to repeat them. But God . . . He says that we can start fresh, and make wise choices for ourselves, for our children, and for our children’s children.
I love how God speaks to us in a personal way! Just this week, I was praying specifically about one of my children. I opened the scriptures and asked God to speak to me specifically about this child. I opened up in Psalms and the first verse I read had his name in it!
I literally laughed out loud.
God is so good to show us He is there for us and that He hears our heart’s cry! He repeats His love for us throughout all of scripture! Let’s do the same for our children, loved ones, and community!
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 says, 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Never be ashamed to REPEAT God’s love to yourself and to others! It will preserve your mind and give peace to your soul.
