In a way, I’m afraid I’ll pick the wrong word for the year. Really? How can one word be wrong. Like if I pick the wrong word, my year will inevitably turn out bad; and likewise, if I pick the seemingly right word for me, the next year will turn out perfect.
We all know these are untrue statements. But it for sure is a good jumping off point. It refocuses our purpose and aligns our goals with God’s vision for our life. So… for 2018:
N – E – W.
That’s what I keep hearing from the Lord.
Through Songs.
Through His Word.
Through His People.
This is my word from the Lord for 2018.
Some things from God’s Word that speak to me about the word NEW:
I’m a new creation in Him! I want to live a life that shows that in 2018 2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
May He put a new song in my heart each day! Psalm 40:3
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.
I believe He desires to water the dry and brittle wilderness places of my heart. Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
He can and will bring strength to my weary places. All hope is not lost. Isaiah 57:10
You were wearied with the length of your way,
but you did not say, “It is hopeless”;
you found new life for your strength,
and so you were not faint.
His mercies are new for me every morning (and moments and minutes). Great is His faithfulness. Lamentations 3:23
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
He has removed a heart of stone and replaced it with a heart of flesh. Praise God. Ezekiel 36:26
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Don’t put the new into the old! Mark 2:22
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.
A little leaven corrupts the whole thing! Don’t allow sin to creep in. 1 Corinthians 5:6-8
I lot of tiny, wrong choices can accumulate into a bad lifestyle over time. May I make lots of good choices that will accumulate into clean and positive way of living. I was reminded of this today when I watched this powerful vlog.
6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
May I put on the new man each morning. Ephesians 4:23-25
23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
I want to put on the new self, renewed in the image of my Father. Colossians 3:10
10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
I have hope in a new heaven and earth where righteousness dwells. 2 Peter 3:13
13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
So, are you with me? Are you ready to start walking in God’s truth in 2018? Maybe, like me, you are afraid and tired of failing again. Don’t be. Come on this journey with me. Let’s take once step at a time towards confident living with Christ at the center of it all!
