Taking time to exercise, taking the time to pray, it all takes effort, work, discipline, daily dying to self. . .
and many times, giving thanks does . I’ve been “out of the loop” for a few weeks now when it comes to my participation in the Gratitude Community.
the beautiful work and grind of bowing the head and bending the heart;
the cultivating mindset that brings the balm of peace upon my mind and soul;
more than my very present need to take in that long, deep breath, is the remembrance of my assured dependence on my Abba Father, for everything;
the wonderful grace-bathed privilege as a child of God, to lie down in green pastures, finding rest in His faithful promises, when I open up that love letter written with Love, because He is Love;
to have my soul restored; just as a surgeon’s delicate and precise hand guides his purposeful snips and mends, so my heavenly Father restores my broken spirit;
having my head anointed with oil; being able to live in daily enjoyment of this great blessing;
taking in the freshness of each new situation, when I depend on Him for each new grace, for each new trial and tribulation;
He is able to fill my cup, but not only fill it, but make it to run over!
So for now, for this moment, I’m choosing to have a grateful heart. For when I stop to give thanks, my heart is healed, and my life isn’t stunted by the temporal, but the eternal joys cast light on the shadows of complacency.
Choosing to give thanks for some of the many names of my Lord:
