If we allow it, Facebook can become a breeding ground for the “F” word: Failure. The clarification is if we allow it. Facebook can be a wonderful way to encourage and uplift and just make friends and build up the ones we have. But all too often this happens instead:
You are having one of those days and decide to get on facebook in order to feed your curiosity, boredom, and ego. Your ego is shot right to the dirt today, and you mindlessly type
w w w d o t f a c e b o o k d o t c o m.
You scroll and scroll through pictures of amazing photos and the latest and greatest recipes, do it yourself crafts with your kids and everyone else’s best moments.
Your insides shrink.
You feel defeated.
You covet.
You compare.
You beat yourself up.
You look around at your messy house.
Your joy is snatched.
You start thinking negative thoughts.
You begin thinking bad about that person.
You wish your life was better.
You dream of having that person’s dream life.
When in reality, not one of our lives are a dream.
Not one of our lives are picture perfect.
Facebook tends to show the picture perfect shot after 50 messed-up-crying-baby scenes.
So don’t get on facebook if you have a critical spirit, judgmental attitude, or ready to compare yourself with others.
BE YOU! Whenever we compare ourselves with others, we aren’t being who God had us be! Facebook does not make you a failure! You are so much more!
You are:
Fearless.
Forgiven.
Favored and Loved.
Fun.
Fabulous.
Faithful.
Don’t let anything steal your JOY! Don’t let the F in Facebook make you think you are a failure! Remember who you are in Christ. I think you are pretty amazing!
John 15:5-11
“5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
