Driving into the setting sun feels magical tonight. Spring is in the air and every sense welcomes its promise. I pass the most perfect tree. I somehow wish my eyes could snap a picture for me because I’m tempted to slow down and pull out my phone (but I don’t – don’t worry Mom). The way its branches hung so effortlessly over the road, the sun dancing through tired, winter branches.
I remember that its always darkest before the dawn. Every hardship tends to precede a victory. As I listen to the radio, See A Victory comes on in that very moment. I am alone in my car, and I turn the volume up loud and raise my hand in praise. I lift my sunglasses off my face and let them rest on top of my head. Wiping fallen tears off my cheeks, I feel every emotion at once. You know what I’m talking about, if you’ve experienced it. Tears carry a story that cannot be uttered with words. I lift my hand in praise, because that’s all I can do. What do my tears represent? Oh, so much!
Triumph over fear and anxiety
Prayer for my children
Thoughts of the broken and sinful world
Loved ones that have gone to glory
Jesus and the gospel ministry
Deep thankfulness
Just as with seasons and the setting evening sun, change is inevitable. What change are you experiencing today? It’s for a purpose. Bend along with the stretching of it, even though it may be uncomfortable. Embrace the everyday contractions that make you want to retreat. Push harder when you want to hide under warm covers.
Parenthood makes you cry. Sometimes they are tears of frustration, other times they are tears of desperation. But the tears mean that you care! So, it’s time to get on your knees, parents! Pray for your kids. This world wants to grab their tender little hearts and direct them towards all sorts of evil. Pray more frequently! Pray longer! Pray louder! Pray more boldly! Pray more specifically!
Are you with me? Get into the Word! Pray out loud His Word over your children! Go watch, sing and praise along with me to this song! We are going to SEE A VICTORY, for the battle belongs to the Lord. Stop backing down from the giants in the way, for we know how this story ends! Yes, and amen!
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57
