5 minutes of writing. Go. . .
We often tell people that we didn’t mean what we said. If we did something to hurt another person, we might say, it wasn’t intentional.
Our words to others need to have intention. They need to be calculated, conscious, and deliberate.
The Bible says that what’s in a man’s heart will eventually come out.
But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. Matthew 15:18
Most of the time in the form of words, actions, or even better, body language.
Often times we don’t realize the depth of conversation that we have had with another person just by our body language. It gives a glimpse into our mind and heart that sometimes we don’t even know is there.
The New Year brings a refreshed sense of intention. We’ve reviewed the past and are measuring, planning, studying what changes need to be made for the future.
Being intentional brings an awareness of an end to be achieved. Goals and purpose bring thoughtful care and action.
It is something that brings willful determination. It’s not accidental, but premeditated.
It is day 17 for me doing Whole 30. You can follow my journey on Instagram more closely if you are curious. I’ve done it in the past and failed; but this time I’m doing it with intention!
What’s involved with this journey?
- Planning Meals
- Documenting My Journey
- Not Giving Myself Permission To Fail
- Taking It Day By Day
- Follow Through
- Purpose
- Deliberation
- Dedication when I want to quit
- Surrounding Myself With Encouragers
- Silencing Hurtful Emotion and Fear
I find that this one simple word: Intentional, means the world of difference in our path to success! It’s the difference between a casual commitment and a purposeful contract.
Whole 30 is just part of my life’s journey to health.
Other areas I need to be intentional:
Reading God’s Word
Praying
Loving My Kids
Loving My Husband
Serving My Community
What about you? What are you intentional about? What goals have you been setting out to achieve, and you haven’t? Perhaps INTENTION is the secret ingredient?

My #oneword for2018 is present. I want to be more present, less distracted this year. My family needs an intentional wife and mom. I hope you have a great week!

Good for you! It’s so important to intentionally take care of ourselves in meaningful ways (not just a manicure). You CAN do it!
Traci says
THANK YOU so much for your encouragement!

O, Traci, this is so moving. Your message is so succinct.
“Our words to others need to have intention. They need to be calculated, conscious, and deliberate.”
Yes, I think many times we take for granted how our words can slide by without any regard for intention. Aren’t we so flippant in our words? Convicting thoughts here. Thank you for sharing your heart here. I too am on my journey to wellness and am inspired by your journey. Thank you for adding that part here too. And I’m so glad you visited my blog too!
Traci says
Yes, convicting for me as well! Thank you for your kind, thoughtful words!

I finding myself needing to be more intentional about a few things health-wise as well. Still weeding through what needs doing first and how to do it best.
Traci says
amen! Thanks for stopping by!

Good for you on doing Whole 30, Traci. I haven’t done that way of eating but I’ve heard good things from those who have completed it. Yes, we have to really make up our minds to do something. Be intentional that we will do it.
I’m being more intentional about how I prioritize my time this year. I need to be more intentional about walking and writing. 🙂

Go you with W30!! It is a challenge, but so very worth it. Approaching it with the mindset of being intentional is going to bring you one step closer to success. I’m transitioning into a new eating protocol called the AIP. The W30 is a stepping stone for me. The meal prep time is trying to break my resolve. 🙂 On the positive side, I was surprised at how quickly my taste buds started working again after giving up the junk foods. It’s fantastic!
I’m being more intentional with so many things this year. My one word is Pause, and that alone is making me intentional!
