Picking a word for the new year has proven beneficial for me in the past. It is not so much a resolution, but a focus word for the year. This is year my word is fruitful. God laid this word on my heart in a deep way. The basis of this prompting came from John 15. Verses 7-9 stuck out to me:
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
God is glorified when we bear much fruit! Above all else, I want to glorify my Heavenly Father! It couldn’t be any clearer to me from His Word that to do this, I need to bear fruit (MUCH fruit). So that is why I’ve chosen the word fruitful!
Here are some areas of my life I want to produce much fruit in:
Quiet Time/Prayer- To produce fruit, I need to be in the Bible and spending time talking to God through prayer! This is the first place I seek to be more diligent in. Lord, please help me to walk in constant fellowship with you. I seek to have unbroken fellowship with you this year, as much as possible!
Parenting- Lord, I ask that you give me a renewed passion for my role as a Mommy. Please give me wisdom as to how to parent and impart that wisdom onto my children for future generations to come. Show me how to love and connect with each child in a special way this year. Show me how to be intentional with my love, discipline and guidance.
Marriage- Please show me how to love my husband deeper and more selflessly in 2015. Thank you for what you have already been faithful to do in our marriage. I do not take that for granted, and want to continue to work at it. Help me be attentive to his needs and the way he needs to be loved and respected.
Health- You know that this is an area of struggle for me. I pray that 2015 is a year to regain my health and I give my body to you. Use it as a vessel for your glory. This body is your temple!
Ministry- I pray for ministry opportunities that you will give me in 2015. Help me to discern what to say yes to and what to say no to. Show me specific ways I can minister to women through my church and online community.
Community- I want to reach out to my local community more this year. Show me how I can be the hands and feet of Jesus in my area.
Work- I know that you have amazing opportunities for me with my graphics business at home. I pray that I will honor you first, and that I will follow your lead as you open doors to grow and learn.
Finances- I pray that as finances grow, that I will honor you with the first fruits! You alone are the giver of these finances, and I pray that I will be able to give back more abundantly to the work of your kingdom.
Do you have a word for 2015? I’d love to hear what it is in the comments below (and please share any blog post links you have)! I’ll make sure to pop over and read them!

I love the word fruitful but what I love even more is how you broke it down into the main areas of your life. Well done! My word is shine and in some ways it parallels your word because I believe we were meant to shine for God in all we do. New Year blessings!

“Fruitful” is an especially beautiful word as that is a desire of my heart in ways that I don’t even know yet! But I want to display the image of Christ and He is the First Fruit.
My word is “expectant” for this year. I want to live in the trust and faith that I am learning to set my feet into and be expecting God at every corner.
Caring through Christ, ~ linda

Like someone else said, I like how you point out different areas in your life and how you are striving to let God work in each area. I’m praying with you that this is a fruitful year, and that God will work in your year in even more ways than you can imagine!
