Dear Thorn In The Flesh,
You are constantly there. Sometimes you remain quiet, hiding out and I think you’ve vanished. I think I’ve conquered you and had the victory over your constant badgering. You are rather annoying.
I find myself becoming bitter against you. It’s a battle that causes me to become weary of the fight. Until I remember these things about you:
You are there to keep me humble.
And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 2 Corinthians 12:7
You are there because God says it should remain.
Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 2 Corinthians 12:8
You are there to remind me of God’s Grace in my weakness.
And He said to me,“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9a
You are there so I can boast of my weakness and God’s strength in me.
Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
You are a gift- for when I am weak, then I am strong.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10
My thorn in the flesh may not look exactly like yours. But the struggle is still the same. God wants to have victory in our life, but only if He has ALL of us. Will you give Him all of you today.
* I’ve been reviewing Revelation Wellness, and I’m devouring the bible study portion of the program. I’m learning so much of why I am drawn to overeat, and how I can overcome it. Just this week in the bible study I’ve learned some life changing truths.
1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
In the lesson it talks about how we are in a battle – “We are in a battle to retrain our taste buds to the foods that give us more life.”
If your thorn in the flesh is a struggle with food, check out Revelation Wellness. I highly recommend it!
Linking with Five Minute Friday today!
