I NEED DISCIPLINE!
I’m not talking about for my children. I’m talking about for me.
It’s getting darker in the morning.
It’s getting colder.
All I want to do these days is hibernate and hide out.
I’m making bad food choices.
I am having a hard time getting motivated to get up and exercise/read my bible.
What motivates you? How do you stay disciplined when the cold/dark mornings tempt you to bury your head under your covers?
On that note… off to do my 30 day shred workout and read God’s Word (smile). Sometimes you just have to do it!
Don’t forget to check out my post below if your life is getting way too hectic these days. Time to slow down and take in the simple life!
Thanks for visiting!

Girl, if you get any good ideas let me know. I think we all have our moments. I go through cycles, sometimes they are short and sometimes they are long.
I will say being active in a Bible study where you have to have lessons done each week is the most helpful way for me to get in God’s Word consistently.

oohhhh the Shred – I did that for about 20 days in the spring… until I got sick for a week. I never got back to it. :/ But now I get up every morning and run at least a mile, so I figure that’s better than nothing!:)
I love filling out a plan for my day the night before. If I have it scheduled out by time I am more likely to stick to the plan because it’s like a competition – me against the plan and I want to win! haha

It’s hard for me too! I have to force myself. Sometimes, when I’m just not getting it done, I will sing! Something simple, just a chorus at times. But, something that praises God. It doesn’t take too long of praising God, to get the motivation you need to do that which needs done!

Yes, it is so hard being consistent! Praying for a desire is one way for me. And then when I start and He starts giving me insight – I get excited and can’t wait to see what He will show me today. Girl, I could get me some elbow, neck and knee sugar! Too cute!!

Well, when we were doing the Biggest Loser, we had to call in our weight loss every Thursday and that was great inspiration for exercising. That and paying a dollar everytime you gained weight. And the $ incentive at the end, of course.
What if you did something like that, made an accountability group, for your Bible reading? Broke down in pairs? And you keep in touch through phone or email everyday to see if your pal did their work. Accountability works really well for me. Of course, it would be awful to offer $ at the end of a Bible study, but what about if you went out to dinner with your accountability partner(s) for some fun as your end incentive? I am ashamed that I can’t even tell you the last time I touched my Bible. It’s been a while. It always seems to be easier to just pop in a devotional audiobook, and that’s not good. That needs to change.

I needed this this morning, Traci. I have had my head buried for years! My baby weight has turned into preschooler weight. I need to find myself again!

I get unmotivated with the shorter daylight hours and colder temps… Hibernating is what I call it too. I could use some ideas for motivation too. :o)

My motivation for getting up and getting going in these dark days is knowing that after I finish my work out in the dark I get to snuggle up on the couch with a hot cup of coffee, a cozy blanket and my Bible.

This has nothing to do with my responce…but–I love the pictures in this post.
Now that I have said that, I love reading my Bible and exercising…once I have actually gotton around to doing it. I have to convince myself to do it, then once I get into it, I remember how much I enjoy it. The sad thing is, that is takes motivation most of the time.
I am a dancer, and I enjoy jogging. I am always willing to dance…not so much jogging. Hehe.
I am new to your blog and following you. I would love if you stopped by my blog and followed me.
Blessings,
Maggie

This week I started something new. The night before I make a list of everything I need to do for the day (including vitamins, 8 glasses of water – I number 1-8 so I can cross off each number, and exercise). That way when my alarm goes off I know I have a list waiting to be crossed off. I love crossing things off of lists – so its a great motivation. Plus, I give myself Saturdays and Sundays off. No lists – what gets done, gets done. That way I am geared up for Monday. That has helped this week. And I am already looking forward to 6am Monday morning. 🙂 Oh and Good Morning Girls has been awesome for me!

Hi Traci!
I found my way here from your Relevant attendee list.
I’m kinda passionate about the whole morning thing.
I shared my inspiration for jumping out of bed in the morning here – http://inspiredtoaction.com/2010/10/my-story-the-video-version
The cliff’s notes version of the video is that I never knew my mom and I’ve been blessed with three kids, two of them girls. I get to be to them every single day, the very thing I never had. I feel so honored.
Some days, though, I stink at being a mom. I’m fighting to be the best mom I can be. I know I desperately need Jesus in this journey.
So, my alarm clock? That’s my fight bell. Round 1. It’s on.
That’s what motivates me, anyway. I hope there’s something there that inspires and encourages you.
Have a wonderful day, Traci!
