I’m no expert on this topic… but it is worth looking into. Anything I’m putting into my body each and every month, that could possibly cause cancer, is worth evaluating in my book. It’s worth researching. The concern revolves around the DIOXINS and the ASBESTOS in tampons and maxi pads. It is believed that these two elements may cause cancer.

I use Tampax Tampons, and this link brought me some comfort:

What have you heard? Do you think it is worth looking into, or is it a big hoax in your mind?
A Humerous Take On Tampon Commercials:
Blast From The Past Tampon Commercial:
Thanks for visiting!
I highly recommend LunaPads and the Diva cup as well!! Much healthier and eco friendly options!
And as a not of information: a past friend of ours worked for a tampon making facility. He mentioned that no female in his family will use them due to the obsene amounts of dioxins and chemicals that are used in the manufacturing process. It is appauling…
But something to think about- a dear friend was just diagnosed with a form of vaginal cancer. It is a horrifying and painful cancer that can be life threatening.
Please pray that the tampon and pad industries would put an end to senseless use of cancerous materials!
Whew, I am relieved by the tampax link! 🙂
Thanks for sharing this. I will have to check into it. Because that can be very scary.
Thanks for sharing! Interesting info! I was concerned at first, but I too use Tampax and it was reassuring to know they don’t have those in theirs!! Still good to know if I were ever to consider changing brands.
I’ve heard that the chlorine used is not good for you so I sometimes use the Seventh Generation brand pads. I heard the same is true with diapers so I used Seventh Generation unbleached disposables with my son (when I wasn’t cloth diapering).
I use the Diva cup. I LOVE it. Plus I haven’t had to buy tampons in 3 years which is a definate blessing.
I stopped using tampons over 10 years ago due to reading things like this. I highly highly highly recommend The Diva Cup:

There is another brand/style but the name escapes me. I have one of each and LOVE them. Talk about being “green” – they do take a little bit to get used to them, but oh my goodness, you keep it in your purse and are never caught unaware. You can read online and go to forums for advice. You will never go back to tampons!
Loved that tampon advert, really made me laugh out loud.
What do I think about my period?
Great stuff.
Love the old commercial! Nothing says “girl talk” with your mom like discussing tampons!
WHEW… glad this old lady doesn’t need them anymore…. but will pass the info on to my daughter….. thanks for the info…
Wow! That is scary! Thanks for posting..
I’m a Diva Cup user here…. I used to suffer from horrible cramps and bloating. I haven’t had either since using the Diva Cup every month.
Tampax brand, as well as non organic brands, are made from cotton that has been sprayed with pesticides. they also contain rayon which is a wood fiber that has been bleached with chlorine dioxide. considering that a woman uses 11,000 tampons in her lifetime we should be looking at the cumulative effect of dioxin in our fem care products. buying tampons made from organic cotton is a far smarter choice to make for yourself, your daughters and granddaughters.
I use the Diva cup and I cannot say enough good things about it. Easy to use, great for the environment and so much better for our bodies.
